Eric is a former professional skydiver and currently a colon and rectal surgeon in Tacoma, WA. He recently retired from the US Army after serving more than 20 years as both an enlisted medic and as a surgeon. He is a veteran of multiple combat deployments and currently lives with his wife and 3 daughters in Gig Harbor, WA.

Eric Johnson is currently the chief of colorectal surgery at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. A veteran of multiple combat deployments, Dr. Johnson has served on active duty for more than 20 years. After serving an enlistment in the Army after high school, he went on to college and medical school while making a living as a professional skydiver. In 1996, Johnson was involved in a skydiving mishap that could have very easily ended his life. His talk will focus on the event, how he attempted to deal with the malfunction, the miraculous outcome, and how he moved on from there.
