The Hyperloop and the possibility of traveling at transonic speeds is gaining more momentum as companies are developing full-scale transport systems. As the co-founder and advisor for Texas Guadaloop, a research group turned startup from The University of Texas at Austin, Vik Parthiba is working with a team of engineers to build the first Hyperloop Transport Vehicle that uses air as a source of levitation and friction-less movement, making transportation more cost-effective and efficient. Guadaloop’s design won the Innovation Award at the SpaceX-Hyperloop II in August 2017, and the team presented its updated designs at Competition III in July 2018. The team believes these enabling technologies will push the boundaries of transportation and bring the world closer together.

Vik Parth

Vik Parthiban is passionate about teams and technologies that shape how people interact with digital information and the physical world. He helped build the Magic Leap One AR headset announced in December 2017, where he led an R&D project for the advanced photonics team. Currently a graduate researcher at the MIT Media Lab, Vik is building new holographic interfaces and hardware that hope to push AR/VR technology forward. On the side, he dabbles in high-speed travel with Elon Musk’s SpaceX-Hyperloop and leads the construction of the first Hyperloop transport vehicle using air bearing technology.
