John Werner Recognized as One of Boston’s 50 On Fire
Bostinno has announced the victors of Boston’s 3rd annual “50 On Fire” award.
This list recognizes the city’s most influential inventors, disruptors, luminaries and newsmakers across all industries. We are proud to announce that Ideas in Action’s very own John Werner has been awarded this prestigious title. John has received the “Education Award” for his continuous work in formulating new and exciting ways to educate and tackle important issues in today’s society.
Werner is the Head of Innovation & New Ventures for the Camera Culture Group at the MIT Media Lab in Cambridge, where he and the team leverage rapid prototyping and interdisciplinary research methods to develop low-cost medical devices and futuristic camera technologies. He is also founder of the community group Ideas In Action and TEDxBeaconStreet, organizations committed to civic engagement and community action. With a long history of education changemaking through his tenure at Citizen Schools, Werner is honored to share the accolades with winners such as Panos Panay, Corporate Microsoft VP and creator of the Microsoft Surface and his colleague Dr. Cynthia Breazeal of the MIT Media Lab Personal Robots Group.
Werner continues to innovate and reinvent education tools to encourage lifelong learning. If you’re interested in putting Ideas In Action, learn more about getting involved.
